Men's Ski Slopestyle Quifications
The real fun started today at X Games Tignes, with the Men’s Ski Slopestyle qualifying run that took place this morning. Jossi Wells finished first with a really stylish run, in front of Russ Henshaw and Gus Kenworthy. The five other riders qualified for tomorrow’s final are: Tom Wallisch, Noah Morrison, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, McRae Williams and PK Hunder.
However the big surprise came from the fact that all three of the recent Aspen X Games gold, silver and bronze medallists: Henrik Harlaut, Nick Goepper and James Woods will not be taking part in the final. After an unlucky first run, they failed to improve their scores on the second run; a second run that was marred by heavy snow and wind that picked up in between both rounds.
The Frenchman David Bonneville, with a wildcard entry from the SFR tour, failed to qualify. Probably intimidated by the high stakes.
Don’t miss the finals tomorrow at 1pm.
Superpipe Practise
The SuperPipe practice session took place just before that in great visibility conditions. Skiers were able to get an idea of the pipe’s speed and continue to adjust their runs for Friday night’s final. “These are not 'final runs' but there’s a high level of riding” commented Kevin Rolland four times X Games gold medallist. “I’m definitely not the best one, so I’m going to have battle it out to make it to the podium places”.
Due to weather conditions, the Women’s Ski Slopetsyle final has been postponed to tomorrow, Thursday at 3pm.
