This week there has been huge landslide on the road between Bourg St Maurice and Moutiers and despite a diversion being put in place there will still be delays in the traffic until the boulders are removed and the roads and rail lines deemed safe again.
Replacement buses have been put in place but trains have been temporarily stopped between Albertville and Bourg Saint Maurice.
Around 400 cubic meters of rock has tumbled down onto the road smashing through houses, buildings, and rail lines. ‘A boulder had gone right through someone’s house and out the garage door!!’ claimed Marcus. A team of geologists have been at the site and from the air studying the landslide and the mountain side to look for signs of further collapse.
It is currently taking three hours to get up the mountain from Moutiers so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time if you are travelling to Tignes this weekend!
