It's finally here. The long-awaited winter Olympics 2010 springs into life in Canada today, with events being held in Vancouver and Whistler. Two whole weeks of snow-sporting prowess. We can't wait for all the action to unfurl...
The massive opening ceremony is due to take place today at 6pm West - coast Canadian time (2am Sat morning for us!) There's a huge amount of work involved in any Olympic ceremony such as this but the Canadians are proud to be hosting the event. There is a huge amount planned for the first weekend, with first rounds in the figure skating, biathlon, ice-hockey, luge, ski-jumping, freestyle-skiing and the men's downhill alpine skiing events all kicking things off tomorrow.
